Two Days, Away From Studies, Toward God
|
| |
|
October 4th and 5th the Upper School students and faculty
took time away from their studies to retreat to Carolina Creek Christian Camp. The two days were kicked off with a message from Mr. Wathen on the cultivation of our souls. The days were centered on taking time away from the busyness of our culture to turn our attention towards God and our fellowship with one another.

The retreat also included games between our houses... |
| |
and a lively karaoke competition that was kicked off by Mr. Wathen offering up his rendition of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong... |
| |
[Editor's note: Neither of these young men appear to be Mr. Wathen]
Our house captains also led their houses in the development of house songs, crests, and mottoes... |
| |
We hope to have these crests completed this year so they can be displayed in the upper school hall and used for formal ceremonies at Providence.
If you are interested in more information about the Providence house system, you can check out the CD of Mrs. Stewart’s Pursuing Wisdom Colloquy Presentation or the notes from Mr. Wathen’s presentation last year (click on the House System link at the top of this page). The house system is a distinction of our school that adds to the camaraderie between the grades and within families and provides leadership opportunities for our older students. |
