2010 Girls' Cross Country

This year was the best one yet for PCS Girls' Cross Country!  We had 12 girls on the team: Susan Carmichael (11th), Hannah Talkington (11th), Juliana Cox (10th), Kamran Hemeyer (10th), Hannah Norman (10th), Amanda Ryan (10th), Katy Adams (9th), Courtney Brandt (9th), Linnea Long (9th), Kelsey Martin (9th), Caitlin Post (9th), and Mary Ann White (9th).  Practices started in  July, with every runner working hard to build strength and endurance for our 2-mile races.  We competed in 4 meets before going to State on October 16th.  We came in 2nd in the State competition, only 3 team points behind the State Champions!  Juliana Cox was our lead runner, coming in 4th place with a time of 13:47.  Linnea Long came in 7th with a time of 14:07, and Amanda Ryan finished 8th with a time of 14:08.  These three girls were designated All-Sate runners, and Susan Carmichael was named to the Academic All-State team.  All 7 girls who ran in the State Meet finished in the top 20 with times under 16:00.  We look forward to another successful season next year when we will hopefully bring home that State Championship!
