The PCS Black Tie Club is opened to Providence Classical School students and their families, and is designed to promote a love of the performing arts among the student body at Providence Classical School. In order to promote a love of that which is Good, True, and Beautiful in classical music and the performing arts, it is the purpose of the Black Tie Club to place opportunities before the student body and their parents, as well as the faculty and staff of PCS, to attend, learn about, and gain a greater appreciation for classical music and theater.
Approximately once per trimester the Black Tie Club will arrange to attend a performance of a symphony, opera, ballet, theatrical work, or some other classical work.
Our second performance this year will be at 7:30 PM, March 16, 2017, to see Lincoln Center Theater's critically acclaimed production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The King and I." This timeless musical boasts a score which features such beloved classics as "Getting To Know You," "I Whistle a Happy Tune," "Hello Young Lovers," "Shall We Dance" and "Something Wonderful." Set in 1860's Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.
Location: Hobby Center/Sarofim Hall; Tickets are $35 per person.
To order, please see Mary Liz Overcash before COB February 8, 2017.
