Upper School Humanities and Composition & Literature
Upper school Humanities teachers should have a love of Christ, a love of their students, a love of classical education, and a love of the Humanities, with a strong background in literature and history. PCS students study history and literature chronologically, with students studying the whole range of history—from ancient civilizations through the modern period—three times over their years at PCS. The current open position is for 9th grade Humanities and 9th grade Composition and Literature. These courses will cover the history and literature of modern Europe (1500 AD to present).
Sixth Grade Grammar School Teacher
The ideal Sixth grade grammar school teacher will have an infectious love of learning, which he or she will demonstrate to the class each and every day. This teacher will teach subjects in math, science, and English. The spiritual maturity to weave all of these “subjects” together into an integrated whole, with Christ always at the center, is a must, as are good communication skills (both speaking and writing). Classical Christian experience, as well as the ability to coach a sport or lead an after-school club is a plus.
Executive Assistant to the Headmaster (We are no longer taking applicants for this position)
Providence Classical School is seeking an administrative assistant to the Headmaster. This position reports to the Headmaster and functions as a member of the Support Staff. Qualified candidates must be able to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and in writing; possess strong organizational skills; demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; balance the demands of a fast-paced work environment; and work with the team. This position requires the ability to handle confidential information appropriately, to provide a high level of customer service, to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior administrators, and to enjoy working with adults and students. Responsibilities are performed in keeping with the mission of the school. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining calendars; scheduling internal and external meetings; prioritizing conflicting needs; coordinating activities among divisions or other school offices; and planning special events. As with all employee openings, the School seeks candidates eager to support our mission of providing exceptional classical and Christian education so we can train our students to impact their culture for Christ.
Upper School Art Teacher
The Art teacher should have a love of Christ, a love of his or her students, and a love of classical education. The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with our school guidelines. The Art teacher is to lead the upper school students (grades 7-12) in the contemplation of God’s beauty and perfection. This instructor will teach two different classes, an Introduction to Art and an Advanced Art class, one hour a day, four days a week.
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Aide
The teacher’s aide will take instructions from Pre-K and K teachers but may also need to teach or plan an activity. The aide will need to love working with children, display orderliness of self and classroom, take direction well and enjoy learning right alongside the students. This person would need to be willing to submit to the school administration and the values of the school as well as to the lead teacher. An enthusiasm for this age and a servant heart needs to be apparent. The applicant must be a believer in Christ, adhere to the PCS Statement of Faith, and support the mission and values of Providence.
