Providence Classical School is a classical Christian school in northwest Houston currently serving 400+ students in grades PreK through 12. SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS AND YOUTH HELPERS

General Description:  PCS Exploration Camps are offered during June and July for children who have completed PreK through 8th grade. Campers will enjoy a variety of exciting activities led by PCS teachers, coaches, and student camp counselors.

Responsibilities:  Interact with campers, assist teachers/coaches as needed, anticipate and respond to the needs of campers and leaders, basic set-up and cleaning duties, while fostering a fun, high-energy camp environment.

Requirements:  Applicants are expected to be able to share their love for Christ with others. Contagious enthusiasm and previous camp experience are a plus. Candidates are required to have a reliable means of transportation. Candidates invited for an interview should provide their availability at that time.

Age Requirements:
Youth Helpers:  rising 8th or 9th graders
Camp Counselors:  High School or College Students

Full-Time Positions

If interested in applying for the 2020-2021 school year see below for more information. For teaching positions, all qualified candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s degree and relevant classroom experience.

Upper School Humanities Teacher:  Providence Classical School is in need of a full-time Upper School Humanities teacher who loves Jesus, loves students, loves classical Christian education, and loves history, literature, and writing. Applicants interested in this position should have a strong background in European history and literature, with skill in teaching writing. The PCS Humanities curriculum progresses chronologically, with each grade studying the history and literature of a particular time period, beginning with Ancient history and literature in 7th grade (see the full scope and sequence here). Most teachers in the Humanities Department teach both the history and English classes for a particular grade level, though other combinations of courses are possible depending on need and on teachers’ expertise. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Upper School French Teacher:  Providence Classical School is in need of a high school French teacher who loves Jesus, loves students, loves classical Christian education, and loves French language, culture, and history. Applicants interested in this position should be fluent in French grammar and conversation, comfortable speaking, reading, writing, and teaching in French. Time spent living and/or studying in France is a plus. Students at PCS may begin taking French in the 10th grade, after studying Latin from 3rd through 9th grade. The position is therefore part-time, with one section each of 10th grade French I, 11th grade French II, and 12th grade French III, with approximately 10 students per class. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. If applicants have expertise in other areas of need, it is possible that this position could be combined with other classes to create a full-time position.

Staff Accountant
Providence Classical School is in need of a Staff Accountant who loves Jesus, loves students, and loves classical Christian education. The Staff Accountant prepares and analyzes the company’s financial records. They will compile financial statements, review data, and ensure financial compliance. The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, tax returns, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Athletics

Providence Classical School is seeking passionate and qualified coaches. Applicants should possess a credible and vibrant Christian testimony that clearly demonstrates a relationship with Jesus Christ. Applicants should also fully support the school’s mission, statement of faith, and be excited about classical Christian education. We strive for excellence in all areas and seek those that possess a love for children, a love for learning, and the gift of coaching. Substitute Positions

Substitute teachers should have a love of Christ, a love for the students, and a love of classical education. The substitute must be able to provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans, create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, maintain a safe and orderly environment, maintain the routines of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned, maintain a professional appearance, and take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students.
